The university in Cluj is the result of a long evolution and series of trials in the attempt of establishing a powerful cultural center for a high-degree education in Transylvania - an area that never stops attracting the west-Europeans, an area of religious and political confrontations that have been part of our continent's history.

Babes-Bolyai University is the oldest academic institution in Romania that has undertaken the entire academic tradition in Transilvania. It was inaugurated though the Jesuit College founded in Cluj by prince Bathory Stefan in 1581.

Babes-Bolyai University brings together the entire cultural, scientific and confessional tradition in Transylvania. Babes-Bolyai University has a multicultural and multilingual educational program according to the Romania law in force and in agreement with the European values.
