Valentin Șerban began studying the violin by the age of seven, at the “Tudor Ciortea” Music High School, where he studied with teachers such as Valeriu Rogacev, Daniel Podlovschi, Adam Han-Gorski, Ilarion Ionescu. He attended the Master courses at Kunstuniversität in Graz, under the guidance of the violinist Silvia Marcovici.
He won the 1st Prize at 6 editions of the National Music Olympiad, the 1st Prize at the “Ștefan Ruha” International Competition (Satu-Mare, 2011), the 2nd Prize at the “Andrea Postacchini” International Competition (Italy, 2015) and the 2nd Prize at the “Mihail Jora” National Competition (Bucharest, 2017).
He participated in festivals such as the “Krzyzowa Music of Europe” Festival in Poland (2018-2019), JazzUp Sea Festival (2018), SoNoRo Festival (2017-2019), Brașov Winter Classics (2017), Musica Barcensis, Musica Coronensis (2016).
In 2018, the “Krzyzowa Music of Europe” Festival in Poland released the CD with the live recording of the Trio in G minor, op.15 by Smetana.
He has performed an impressive number of concerts and recitals both in Romania and in other countries such as France, Austria, Germany, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Denmark, Poland, Spain, Belgium or Ukraine.
He has been a member of the Romanian Youth Orchestra since 2012. He is currently a member of the Les Dissonances Orchestra in Paris.
